Hey, I’m Loránd
A husband, dad, civil engineer, endurance athlete, and ISSA-certified running coach documenting the path from road running to mountain ultra endurance.
Welcome to The Runner Zone – a space for real people juggling real responsibilities: work, family, stress, and the desire to feel better in their own skin.
Running didn’t enter my life under perfect circumstances — it had to fit around work, family, responsibilities, and everyday chaos.
Why I Started Running (and This Blog)
A few years ago, I was drained. Work stress was creeping into every corner of my life. I felt tired all the time, my patience was running low, and I wasn’t showing up the way I wanted to – at home or at work.
So I went for a run.
It was hard – really hard. I realized quickly that I couldn’t just force it. I needed a plan if I wanted to be consistent and make running stick. So I started with something manageable: the stationary bike. It helped me build a habit and regain confidence in my body.
Once that became routine, I slowly began swapping bike sessions for short runs – one run a week, then two, then more.
This gradual approach made it sustainable. It built both physical and mental strength. And being outdoors – especially in nature – gave me a sense of calm I didn’t realize I was missing. That’s why trail running speaks to me so deeply now. The movement, the fresh air, the quiet – it all reminds me why I started in the first place.
Running gave me energy again. It shifted my mindset, strengthened my relationships, and helped me re-engage with my work and family. Not overnight – but step by step, with consistency.
This blog is where I share that journey – and help others start theirs.

My Mission & Long-Term Goal
My long-term goal is to become a mountain ultra runner — not just for the challenge, but for everything the process teaches along the way.
The Runner Zone documents that journey through road running, trail running, elevation-focused training, and the lessons learned from building endurance step by step.
I believe lasting progress comes from consistency, realistic expectations, and sustainable training — not shortcuts.
Running impacts far more than fitness alone. It influences mindset, energy, discipline, and how we show up in everyday life.
Alongside my own training and racing journey, I’m also building my coaching system through continuous learning and real-world application.
I earned my ISSA Running Coach Certification to deepen my understanding of endurance training and to help other runners train with more structure, confidence, and long-term consistency.

Running for My Kids
One of my biggest motivations? My kids. I want to lead by example – to show them from a young age how sport can be a powerful tool to grow, push limits, and become stronger in every part of life.
One of my proudest moments was at the finish line of my first marathon – medal just placed around my neck, legs shaking, emotions high – and there they were, waiting. I shared the finish line snacks with them as they proudly admired the medal, and in that moment, I knew I wasn’t just running for myself anymore.
